Darren
Ferguson has had a difficult start to life in management as Posh have still
struggled with their poor form since his arrival from Wrexham in mid January.
Peterborough fought back from 2-0 down in the second
half to level matters at Bristol Rovers last weekend but they then conceded
a last minute winner direct from a free kick - a result that leaves The Posh in 14th
position with 39 points from 31 games.
Peterborough's form at home has not been the best this season
and they are ranked 20th overall with only five wins from 15 games. Their last
win in all competitions came at Rochdale in early December but the last win
at London Road was a 5-2 demolishing of now bottom Torquay back in November.
Peterborough were doing well up to this point and occupied a
play off spot but have dropped down to mid table mainly due to a run of
eight straight defeats that was only ended with a home draw against Swindon
two weeks a go.
Peterborough parted company with manager Keith Alexander on
the 15th of January after results plummeted following an encouraging start.
New chairman Darragh MacAnthony took charge of Posh in mid October and set a
optimistic plan of reaching the Premiership within a decade but has backed
his managers with significant funds being made available in the transfer
window.
£800,000 was spent on new signings Josh Low, George Boyd,
Aarlon MacLean and Micah Hyde by Alexander and Ferguson has since signed
Shane Blackett and Craig Mackail-Smith from Dagenham & Redbridge, taking
their tally to five Conference signings during the window, and Gavin
Strachan has also joined from Hartlepool on a free transfer.
The
signing off Mackail-Smith has been surrounded in controversy with the
striker going AWOL for his first week with the club with Posh ready to sue
the striker and his agent for breach of contract but this has all been put
behind them after he turned up for training this week.
Wrexham will also come up against defender Craig Morgan who
has joined Peterborough prior to Ferguson's arrival with the defender also
spending a month on loan at the Racecourse earlier on this season.
Top scorer for Peterborough is Danny Crow with 10 goals this
season although he is supported by Trevor Benjamin on 9 and Aaron McLean |
