The Match |
Wrexham have the chance to get revenge
on the team who inflicted their first home defeat of the season at the end of last
month. It is going to be another difficult test for Wrexham, as Rochdale
arrive at the Racecourse on the back of three successive away wins. |
The
Dale |
Rochdale's 0-0 draw at home to Chester on the weekend leaves Dale in twelfth
position with a return of seventeen points from fourteen games. Rochdale are
currently in second spot in the away form table having collected 11 points
from the last five games on their travels.
Top goal scorer for Rochdale is Chris Dagnall who has netted
on six occasions this season. Liverpool born Dagnall started his career at
Tranmere but after failing to hold down a first team place, the striker
headed for Rochdale during the January transfer window and his goals towards
the end of last season contributed to securing Rochdale's status as a
Football League club.
Manager Steve Parkin is in his second spell in charge of
Rochdale after previously enjoying a successful tenure between 1999-2001
before joining Barnsley in November 2001. His time at Oakwell lasted just
under twelve months and took charge of Rochdale again in December 2003. |

The match at the Racecourse between the sides last month went the way of
Dale as they overturned a 1-0 half time deficit with top scorer Chris Dagnall bagging a second half brace to secure all three points for Dale.
Last season, Wrexham did the double over Rochdale with Matt Derbyshire
scoring the only goal of the game in the first half although the match at
Rochdale will
be remembered for Wrexham's then defender Dave Bayliss being sent off whilst
on loan for Rochdale.
In the other game at the Racecourse a Matt Crowell penalty
equalised for Wrexham just
before half time and Darren Ferguson wrapped up the 2-1 win with a
stunning volley in the second half.
In total the clubs have met on 109 occasions in the league with Wrexham
ahead with 51 wins compared to Rochdale's 58 and there have been 20 draws. |

Rochdale are in fine form away from home with three successive victories on
their travels. Their first away of the season came with a 3-0 scoreline at
Boston and this was followed up with the 2-1 win at the Racecourse. Rochdale
could not carry this form into their home games as they recorded a 1-1 draw
at home to Shrewsbury but continued their good away form with an emphatic
5-0 win at Darlington. Rochdale remained with only one win at home as they
drew 0-0 at home to Chester on the weekend.
Wrexham's 2-1 home defeat against MK Dons was their sixth
defeat in seven games. The only win came at home to Hereford with a 1-0
scoreline but this came on the back of heavy defeats at Accrington and
Stockport. Following the win over Hereford came the defeat at home to
Rochdale and another hammering at Hartlepool before the MK Dons reverse on
the weekend. |

Wrexham Team News:

completed a one month loan move and was given clearance to play in the
Johnstones Paint Trophy by his club. Ryan Valentine and Danny Williams
return from suspension but Wrexham are without Neil Roberts and Steve Evans
after the pair picked up injuries on the weekend. Lee Roche is rated
doubtful for the game and John McAliskey has returned to Huddersfield
following his one month loan.
Rochdale Team News: Rochdale's Gary Brown (calf), Mark Jackson (heel
and thigh) are doubtful despted returning to training. But James Sharp
should have shaken off an ankle injury while John Doolan could start after

the A541 and
take the first left at the roundabout and straight over the next
roundabout and the ground is ahead of you on your left. By
Train:

When you are there |
Car Parking:
NEWI College just before the ground and a local car park
just before the Shell Garage on the opposite side of the road and both
cost around £2.00. Free parking is available on the retail parks by
turning left at the second roundabout but do not park in ALDI or you
will get clamped! Avoid B&Q as they have a maximum stay of two hours and
issue parking tickets for £125 and the new Central Retail park just
passed the train station operates a time restriction policy. Beer and Grub:
The Turf is right next to the Kop but it gets very busy in the hour
leading up to kick off, so arrive early. The Official Supporters Club
has use of the Centenary Club on matchdays and this is located behind
the Sainsburys Stand with the entrance off the club car park. The Plas
Coch Retail Park has a pub and is normally a favourite for away
supporters. The Railway is located down the side road along the Remploy
factory at the opposite end of Crispin Lane to the ground. There
are plenty of pubs in the town centre and the closet to the ground is a Wetherspoons Pub by following Mold Road
into the town centre and is found on your left hand side. If you continue into the town
centre McDonalds will be on your left and the next pub you reach is The
Horse and Jockey and opposite that under the archway is a good chip
shop. There are more pubs on High Street and to find them continue
pass the Horse and Jockey, passing Burger King on your left, and High
Street is the junction with Burtons.
Cash Machines: The Shell Garage on Mold Road
with further machines at Sainsburys and Boots on the Plas Coch Retail
Park. If you are heading into the town centre you will pass a number of
banks on your way to the pubs. |
