The Imps |
Lincoln finished October on high in top place after recording a perfect four
wins in the league. This resulted in John Schofield winning the manager of
the month award but the normal bad luck this brings hit the Imps this month,
as they are now on a run of three straight defeats. Despite this, Lincoln
remain in second position with a return of 35 points from 18 games but are
now six points behind league leaders Walsall.
Lincoln have the best away record with nine wins and two defeats
on their travels this season. The two defeats have come at grounds where they
were expected to win with Boston and Stockport preventing a 100% record for
the Imps away from home this season.
Lincoln have taken advantage of the loan transfer deadline on
Thursday with three new faces joining their squad on deadline day. Veteran
midfielder Shane Nicholson has rejoined the club until the New Year from
League One Chesterfield whilst Matthew Birley has joined for the same length
of time from Championship side Birmingham City. Defender Nicky Eden was a
late addition to the squad with the defender rejoining from Nottingham
Forest but striker Ryan Semple has joined Chester.
The man in charge of the Imps is John Schofield and he
replaced now Posh manager Keith Alexandra during the summer. Schofield holds
the title of head coach and works along side John Deehan who is Director of
Football at Sincil Bank. Schofield was previously first team coach and was
promoted at the same time when Deehan swapped positions to Lincoln from
Northampton.
Top goal scorer for the Imps is experienced striker Jamie
Forrester. He picked up the player of the month award for October, making it
a double success for the Imps, and has scored 12 goals this season which
includes three hat-tricks! |

Wrexham do not have the best of recent records against Lincoln with the Imps
last season collecting four points out of the two games played. The first
game at Sincil Bank resulted in a comfortable 2-0 victory for the home side
and Wrexham had to rely on a injury time goal from Mark Jones to rescue a
point after Simon Yeo had given Lincoln a second half lead.
Prior to this, the club's last met in Wrexham's promotion season but Lincoln
again had the upper hand with a 2-0 win at the Racecourse and a 1-1 draw at
Sincil bank with Andy Morrell equalising for Wrexham. The
clubs have met on 74 occasions in the league with Lincoln winning 31 games,
Wrexham 24 and there have been 23 draws. |

Both
teams arrive into the game on the back of two straight league defeats
although Wrexham do have an FA Cup win to their credit, where as Lincoln
went out at the first hurdle to Port Vale. In the League, Lincoln's perfect
October ended with a 2-0 defeat at Stockport and the FA Cup defeat at Vale was
followed up with a 3-1 reversal at home to Darlington last weekend.
Wrexham's only league win in the last five games came at home
to Bristol Rovers but were unable to following this up against bottom placed
Macclesfield, who left the Racecourse with a goalless draw. Wrexham have
been on the road since then with defeats recorded at Bury and Notts County
but Wrexham have gone three games at home without conceding a goal. |
Team News |
Wrexham Team News: Ryan
Valentine has returned to the squad after recovering from a groin strain and
Lee McEvilly features for the first time after a lengthy foot injury. This
is where the good news end, as Matty Done misses out for the second week
running with and he joins strikers Jon Newby, Neil Roberts and Juan Ugarte
on the sidelines.
Lincoln Team News: Lincoln have striker Martin Gritton available
following a groin strain but are without Scott Kerr and Ollie Ryan with back
and stomach injuries respectively. Lincoln also include there three loan
signings - Shane Nicholson, Nicky Eaden and Mat Birely - in their squad
after they completed their moves prior to Thursday's deadline.
Man in the Middle: Trevor Kettle from Berkshire - 3 red cards in 13
games and 42 bookings at an average of 3.23 per game. |

League leaders Walsall will be looking to bounce back from
their midweek FA Cup exit and at least maintain their six point cushion at
home to Notts County.
Rather surprisingly, Macclesfield knocked Walsall out of
the Cup, which was their first win of the season and Paul Ince will be
hoping the Silkmen record their first league win when they
travel to Rochdale.
Elsewhere, third place Swindon are only a point behind
Lincoln and they place host to Bury and Wycombe, who are also on 34 points
in fourth position, travel to Hartlepool.

the A541 and
take the first left at the roundabout and straight over the next
roundabout and the ground is ahead of you on your left. By

When you are there |
Car Parking:
NEWI College just before the ground and a local car park
just before the Shell Garage on the opposite side of the road and both
cost around £2.00. Free parking is available on the retail parks by
turning left at the second roundabout but do not park in ALDI or you
will get clamped! Avoid B&Q as they have a maximum stay of two hours and
issue parking tickets for £125 and the new Central Retail park just
passed the train station operates a time restriction policy. Beer and Grub:
The Turf is right next to the Kop but it gets very busy in the hour
leading up to kick off, so arrive early. The Official Supporters Club
has use of the Centenary Club on matchdays and this is located behind
the Sainsburys Stand with the entrance off the club car park. The Plas
Coch Retail Park has a pub and is normally a favourite for away
supporters. The Railway is located down the side road along the Remploy
factory at the opposite end of Crispin Lane to the ground. There
are plenty of pubs in the town centre and the closet to the ground is a Wetherspoons Pub by following Mold Road
into the town centre and is found on your left hand side. If you continue into the town
centre McDonalds will be on your left and the next pub you reach is The
Horse and Jockey and opposite that under the archway is a good chip
shop. There are more pubs on High Street and to find them continue
pass the Horse and Jockey, passing Burger King on your left, and High
Street is the junction with Burtons.
Cash Machines: The Shell Garage on Mold Road
with further machines at Sainsburys and Boots on the Plas Coch Retail
Park. If you are heading into the town centre you will pass a number of
banks on your way to the pubs. |
