Hereford have made a good start in their first season back in the Football
League following an absence of nine years. Following the Boxing Day goalless
draw against Bristol Rovers, the Bulls find themselves in tenth position with a return
of thirty-three points from twenty-four games played.
Their form of late has been a bit patchy with the 1-0 win at Notts County last Saturday their first in the league since the beginning
of November. The foundation for their success this season has been at Edgar
Street with five wins from twelve games,
although they have not won on home soil in the league since the end of
October but they did spank Port Vale 4-0 at home in the second round
of the FA Cup at the beginning of the month.
Rather surprisingly, the Bulls have not enjoyed most of their
victories against teams in the bottom half of the table with only three of their
nine wins coming against teams in the wrong half.
Top goal scorer for the Bulls is midfielder Rob Purdie with
nine goals so far this season. Purdie joined the Bulls as a trainee in 2002
but this is by far his best season for goals scoring with his last goals
coming against Port Vale.
Manager Graham Turner is also the Chairman of Hereford and
has been in charge of team affairs since the start of the 1995 season after
previously enjoying spells in charge of Shrewsbury, Aston Villa and
Wolverhampton. |
