Wrexham's final game as a football league club,
for fifteen months at least, sees us travel to Lincoln City.
The display in the 3-1 defeat to Accrington last week
does not inspire confidence in a team that has lost our last seven games
away from the Racecourse.
Lincoln, on the other hand, recorded their third
successive win win at
Morecambe last weekend with the only defeats in
their last five games coming against the top two - Peterborough and the
MK Dons.
Lincoln were also staring relegation in the face after
winning only two of their first sixteen games this season but Peter
Jackson's has managed to steer the Imps to mid-table security since his
arrival at the end of October.
Lincoln have drawn just four games this season with
their last draw coming at home to Bury on New Year's Day.
Form since then has been on a high with the Imps
picking up five straight wins during February to steer themselves out of
relegation trouble.
Top scorer for Lincoln is the experienced Jamie
Forrester with fourteen goals this campaign.
Lincoln are also planning well for next season with
the board agreeing to issue new shares in the club after previously
being blocked in this attempt for the last two years.
The Imps Trust currently own 25% of their club with
directors appointed at board level and the announcement of the
additional investment has been warmly greeted by the management team
with assistant manger, Iffy Onuora, commenting that the investment will
allow the club to compete in attracting better players to the club.
Lincoln also rested their entire reserve team
for a recent match at Grimsby to cast an eye over eleven trialists
looking to impress for the new season.
The club has announced that season ticket prices have
been frozen as the club celebrate their 125th year next season with the
junior price bracket increased to cover 16 and 17 year olds in further
education.
Onura has been looking after team affairs since
February after manager Peter Jackson announced he was taking time off to
battle throat cancer.
Jackson only took charge of Lincoln last year after
previously having two spells in charge of Huddersfield.
Recent Encounters:
We have won our last three games against the Imps with
Marc Williams scoring the only goal of the game at the Racecourse at the
end of September.
Our 3-0 victory at Sincil Bank last season was the
catalyst for saving our league status with Simon Spender, Lee McEvilly
and an own goal doing the damage.
Lincoln currently edge the head-to-head in league
games with thirty-one wins to out twenty-seven and there have been
twenty-three draws in the ninety-one league games between the two teams.
Team News:
Gareth Evans, Mike Williams, Matty Done and Neil
Roberts have all been ruled out on the visit to Sincil Bank
Carl Treamarco returns after an ankle injury and Alex
Darlington is in line for a debut after recovering from a broken leg.
Simon Spender has also been added to the travelling
party.
Midfielder Martin Pembleton will miss Lincoln's season
finale with Wrexham on Saturday due to a knee injury.
The 17-year-old has been ruled out for at least a month with a ligament
strain picked up in the 2-1 win at Morecambe.
Elsewhere in League Two:
Chester's draw against Stockport on Tuesday means
there is nothing left to play for in League Two on the final weekend of
the season.
The top three have confirmed their positions and
Mansfield will join us in the Blue Square next season whilst the only
games of interest are who will play who in this season's play offs. |
