The win over Notts County on the weekend kept our
hopes alive for another game but we have to collect three points at
promotion placed Hereford to avoid being relegated.
Although a defeat will mean we can still match Dagenham's
forty three points, they face second bottom Mansfield on the last game
of the season and at least one of them will therefore reach forty four
points, which is one more than our maximum is we lose at Hereford.
One glimmer of hope is that the Bulls do not have the
best home record for a team third in the league with only nine wins at
Edgar Street all season.
We will have to address our form away from the
Racecourse to record our first back-to-back victories of the season and
end a run of six straight defeats on our travels.
This match is our game in hand over our relegation
rivals and three points will see us close within three points of
Dagenham & Redbridge and safety.
Hereford are in the need of three points themselves
and a victory will mean they will be on the verge of securing automatic
promotion to League One.
Hereford have only won one of their last five games at
Edgar Street and the 1-0 defeat against promoted Peterborough on the
weekend has left the Bulls one point ahead of Rochdale and Stockport in
fourth and fifth position respectively.
Hereford's last win at home came in the middle of
March when they defeated Wycombe by a single goal and you have to go
back one month further for their previous victory when they defeated
Chesterfield 2-0.
Top scorers for Hereford in the league are strikers
Trevor Benjamin and Theo Robinson with ten goals each.
Benjamin joined the Bulls in the summer from Walsall
whilst Robinson is on a season long loan from Watford.
Graham Turner has been in charge of the club,
literally both on and off the field, since August 1995 after having
spells as manager of Shrewsbury, Villa and Wolves. Turner has taken
charge of over 600 games for the Bulls and helped them regain their
league status two seasons ago and is on course of recording another
promotion to League One.
Recent Encounters:
Hereford left the Racecourse last September with all
three points courtesy of second half strikes from Kris Taylor and Trevor
Benjamin.
This was the first victory for the Bulls in Wrexham
since August 1991 although games between the two sides have been limited
since then.
Our last victory at Edgar Street was back in 2005 when
we won 2-1 en route to the LDV Vans Trophy victory at the Millennium
Stadium.
Hereford lead the head-to-head in the
league with thirteen wins to our seven and there have been eleven draws in the
thirty-one
games between the sides. The matches last season were the first in the
league since 1993 but there has been two cup games in between.
Team News:
Wrexham have no fresh injury worries from the weekend
win over County and Brian Little is again expected to continue with his
youthful team selection.
The one addition to the travelling squad is midfielder
Robbie Garrett who is on loan from Stoke City.
Hereford midfielder Sammy Igoe came through unscathed
on his return to action following an ankle injury but Luke Webb
(hamstring) is out.
Trevor Benjamin, who came on as a second-half substitute against Posh
after recovering from an eye injury, will face a late fitness test.
