Tonight's Evening Leader in the story "Reds stow business" reports that Wrexham boss Brian Flynn yesterday had talks at Colliers Park with released Wolves 'keeper Mike Stowell.

The Leader reports that the talks went well, and quotes Brian Flynn as saying: “I had lengthy talks yesterday with Mike and we'll be continuing our talks over the weekend. He was very impressed with our set-up and at the moment it’s looking hopeful. He's vastly experienced. He had 11 years at Wolves and has played at the highest level. He’s very confident and very fit and is certainly worth considering”.

36 year-old Stowell is seen by many as an ideal replacement for recently released glovesman Kevin Dearden.

The Golden Army web site carries this fans' eye view of Mike Stowell: "Stowell is a top class goalkeeper. He signed for Wolves in '90 from Everton, after a successful loan spell in '89. Mike has been the No.1 keeper since shortly into the 99/00 season when Michael Oakes was signed from Villa as cover for him, who needed an operation on his ankle, and performed outstandingly in goals. Oakes has now been given the No.1 shirt for the 00/01 season. Stowell is another experienced member of the Wolves squad and is currently the longest serving member still playing for Wolves, Stowell reached his testimonial season in 99/00 and Wolves played Villa for his testimonial match. Although it was Mike's day, Wolves lost 2-0".
