Shrewsbury Match Off

Due to heavy rain overnight in the Wrexham area it was no surprise that the derby match against Shrewsbury at the Racecourse was called off following a pitch inspection at 10:15 this morning.

This meant a missed opportunity for the Red Dragons as victory today would have seen them jump up at least five places to fourth in the table. A win by three or more goals would have resulted in Wrexham entering the New Year occupying third place - the final promotion spot - after Bury failed to pick up three points at home to Kidderminster later on in the day.

Wrexham Managing Director David Rhodes hope to rearrange the match for Tuesday, 7 January but this is to be confirmed later on in the week.

Wrexham's next match is at home to Macclesfield Town on New Year's Day (Wednesday @ 3:00pm). Hopefully the Racecourse pitch has recovered by then!
