CASH-FLOW problems at the Dragons mean that the players have only received half their wages for November.

The news, which has also affected other staff at the club, was broken to the squad at a meeting before the Brighton game last Thursday.

Wrexham chairman Mark Guterman has said that the club needs home gates of around 7,000 to break even, and - with attendances averaging around 3,500 and no cup run to help - the situation could deteriorate.

Despite the problems, Wrexham captain and Professional Footballer's Association representative Brian Carey says the players are backing their employers.

"The squad are prepared to accept it so I was surprised to see headlines about the problems all over the papers," Carey told BBC Sport Wales.

"We realise the financial situation at the club and in football generally.

"The club has been in a lot worse situations than this and has dealt with it, and we are sure we'll come through."
