Denis Smith and Mark GutermanWREXHAM chairman Mark Guterman says the club's finances are in better shape now than they were a year ago.

The Dragons boss also hit out at the media for reporting that the players had only received half of their wages for November.

"This is a story out of nothing," Guterman told BBC Radio Wales' Midweek Sport programme.

"It really does not deserve to be on the back page of newspapers.

"The players had no problem at all and were as magnanimous and helpful as ever.

"We had one home game in November. The horrendous fixture list caused us slight cash-flow problems.

"But we had a number of different options to pay our way. We could have got a loan from the Professional Footballer's Association like about 20 other clubs have right now, but we would have had to pay an exorbitant rate of interest.

"The club and players agreed that to do that would have been a waste of money."
