WREXHAM wing-back Carlos
Edwards is flying at the moment and his thoughts focused on making sure the
Dragons do the same.
The Trinidadian has enjoyed back-to-back man-of-the-match displays and has been
Wrexham's main attacking threat as the strikers struggled to score goals against
Wycombe and Brighton.
And his form has not gone unnoticed. Wigan Athletic have already been linked
with the Trinidadian while Norwich City are also believed to be interested.
Edwards said: "There's always going to be speculation when you're playing well,
but all I care about at the moment is waking Wrexham out of their slumber.
"We need to get back to what we were doing a few months ago, winning matches.
"To do that we need to score goals. We can help by chipping in and it will take
the pressure off the defenders."
Having lost 2-0 at Brighton last weekend, the Dragons will have to wait to put
things right.
Because of the FA Cup second round this weekend, they have no match until
Peterborough visit the Racecourse next Saturday.
"The last few games we've been playing well but coming out with nothing," added
Edwards.
"I don't want to criticise but we just haven't been scoring. Now we've got this
break we can put it to good use and come back strongly." Despite reportedly
attracting Leeds' attention, which has died away since the sacking of Peter
Reid, the strongest interest looks to be from Wigan.
Manager Paul Jewell is looking to strengthen the right- side of his defence and
said: "We've not got the biggest squad and I'm always looking to strengthen. But
I won't do it unless they are the right players."
The Latics currently have only Nicky Eaden available in the right-back role.
Edwards added: "It's flattering and I've always wanted to go as high as possible
for myself and my family. But I'm completely happy at Wrexham. The rumours are
not affecting me.
"I'll stay here as long as they want me."
FORMER Manchester City striker Leon Mike, 22, is training with Wrexham after a spell at Aberdeen as he looks to improve his fitness.
