Mark GutermanFORMER Wrexham FC chairman Mark Guterman yesterday confirmed he was seeking to regain control of the League One club from Alex Hamilton.

The admission came in the wake of a rebuff for a fans-led bid to buy out Mr Hamilton's 78% majority stake in the club and the freehold of Wrexham's Racecourse home.

Wrexham Supporters' Trust board member Charles Wardle was told late on Thursday its offer was unacceptable to the Cheshire-based property developer, who has given the club notice to quit the Racecourse with effect from next July.

Mr Guterman issued his own statement through his solicitors.

It said: "We have yet to receive a response from Mr Hamilton and we are unable to comment any further."

Last night, Mr Hamilton said conditions attached to the trust's initial £2m bid were unacceptable. He added Mr Guterman had so far failed to provide evidence of a realistic offer.
