WELSH Assembly bosses in Cardiff were this morning given 5,500 reasons to help save Wrexham's Racecourse ground for good.

The Evening Leader's Iain St John presented the concerns of thousands of Reds fans, who signed the Leader's Save the Raceourse petition and filled in special coupons, to the headquarters of the Welsh Assembly in South Wales.

The Leader has been bombarded by thousands of supporters from Wrexham, Flintshire and all over the world over the last two weeks supporting the bid to put pressure on Sports Minister Alun Pugh to hand over cash to help Wrexham Council buy The Racecourse ground from controversial owner Alex Hamilton.

And this morning the Welsh Assembly's sports chief, Arthur Emyr, revealed that top-level talks over Wrexham FC would now be held next week.
