Guterman's finished

Mark GutermanLET'S have a bit of an update on the soap opera that is Wrexham FC.

Well, owner Alex Hamilton says he's willing to sell. "Says" being the key word.

He's still got two options. One is to sell now and save himself a lot of hassle. But he probably won't get as much money as he'd like. The other option is to stay bloody-minded, watch the club go out of business and wait.

He might have to wait a very long time, probably years before the furore dies down and the council relents and finally lets someone build on the pile of rubble on Mold Road which used to be the Racecourse.

If he sells, a man called Andy Smith seems to be interested, blowing out of the water any chance that Mark Guterman had of landing the club.

Smith was said to be introduced to the plight of Wrexham by Darren Ferguson.

He will need the administrators' help to cut a deal with the Inland Revenue and he will want to redevelop the property, but says he is willing to keep the club at the Racecourse Ground.

Mark GutermanSmith's involvement would mean Wrexham Supporters' Trust's chances of buying the club outright would diminish, but they may be better off working with the new owner anyway.

On the pitch the loss of 10 points has made things interesting again.

In a season where we didn't have enough bodies to push for the play-offs, we were still too good to go down.

Now Denis Smith's men have something to fight for and they started in the best way with a good win over an admittedly poor Stockport County side.

You'd think losing the 10 points and battling bravely to stay up would interest the people of Wrexham. You'd be wrong.

Just under 4,000 turned up on Tuesday, and as Denis pointed out, you'll struggle to get anyone interested in buying the club on those woefully small gates.
