Kevin RussellWREXHAM'S assistant manager Kevin Russell knows a money-spinning FA Cup run would be a huge boost to the cash-strapped club.

But he is taking nothing for granted ahead of Saturday's trip to Conference South side Hayes in the First Round.

He told BBC Wales Sport: "It's going to be a difficult game.

"But if you look what League we are in, and which League they're in, we have to be as confident as we can and go out there and get a result."

Wrexham have debts of up to £2.5million and face a winding-up order from the Inland Revenue for an unpaid tax bill of £800,000.

"Everyone knows our situation," Russell added. "And anything that will help get our debts cleared will stand the club in good stead.

"If we can have a good cup run it will be fantastic but in the last two years we've been knocked out in the first round so we have to put that right."

Dragons defender Andy Holt is also wary of the test Hayes will pose.

"It's going to be a tricky tie," Holt said. "Obviously they're going to be delighted to play a League team.

"It would be easy to slip up but hopefully we can go out and do our job then push on to the second or third round and maybe get a big club back to Wrexham."
