WST press release

14/11/04

Mark GutermanWREXHAM SUPPORTERS' TRUST is committed to the long term survival of Wrexham Football Club.

There has been much recent press speculation about the prospect of Mark Guterman returning to Wrexham Football Club. We do not believe that Mr Guterman's return would be in the club's best interests.

Voluntary administration is now the only realistic option that can secure the club's future.

We cannot subscribe to the "lesser of two evils" theory about Mark Guterman's return, and we would refer any doubters to his record at Chester and as previous Chairman at Wrexham.

The Trust is aware that most of the current debts were accumulated during Mr Guterman's previous spell as Chairman, during a period when accounts were not produced and shareholders and supporters kept permanently in the dark about the real situation.

We would like Mr Guterman to answer these questions:

Multimedia

"Week In Week Out" BBC TV documentary about the plight of Wrexham Football Club

Interview with Mark Guterman (December 2003)

- Why was so much income tax unpaid during Mr Guterman's tenure?

- Why did he sign away the club's lease?

- How can he now buy a football club with his insolvency record?

- Does he really have the financial backing necessary?

- Why is he so secretive about his plans for the Racecourse? Does he have something to hide?

- What is his current relationship with Mr Hamilton. Are they still secretly working together to engineer the demise of Wrexham FC?

We believe that Mr Guterman bid to buy Wrexham is simply another property deal and a means to settle private litigation with Mr Hamilton. It is not a genuine attempt to secure the future of Wrexham FC.

If his bid is successful this will only lead to another period of uncertainty, secrecy and mis-management.

Wrexham supporters now deserve better. Voluntary administration is the option that offers Wrexham FC a fresh start and the best chance of long term survival.
