LEVI MACKIN has a big future ahead of him, according to Reds boss Denis Smith.

Smith described Mackin's defensive midfield display in the 3-0 defeat at MK Dons on Saturday as 'outstanding'.

"The lad has got a good future ahead of him," said Smith. "He's got a good approach to the game. He works hard, he passes well and he puts his foot in.

"In his debut at Wycombe last season he played well in an attacking midfield role. On Saturday he was used in a defensive midfield role and I thought he was outstanding."

Mackin, pictured above in training, is in Smith's plans for Saturday's clash with Hartlepool.
