Hector SamCHESTER City are refusing to give up in their pursuit of Wrexham duo Hector Sam and Steve Roberts.

The League Two outfit had bids for the pair rejected by Wrexham last week, with Dragons boss Denis Smith dismissive of the offers.

But Chester are ready to launch another attempt to prise Sam and Roberts from the clutches of the cash-strapped Welsh side.

City chairman Stephan Vaughan has confirmed a second bid will be made, despite Smith having accused Chester of an illegal approach.

"Denis has not been too happy but we've gone down all the correct channels, they just happen to be our local rivals," said Vaughan.

"We will be putting in a revised bid. They've obviously got a few problems and we don't want to add to them but we are in the market for players."

With Wrexham petitioning to go into administration on Tuesday, an improved offer for striker Sam and defender Roberts may prove too difficult to turn down.
