Danny gives Dragons their fire

WE'VE
really missed Danny Williams since his injury.
I thought it was a great signing to get the former Liverpool man back at the
Racecourse, and his early season form was encouraging.
It was nice to see a presence in midfield again, someone who bullied the
opposition. Last season Jim Whitley did the grafting and while he's energetic
and quick in the tackle, the lad's too nice to be a "hardman."
Williams is more like it, and our performances have suffered since his injury.
Denis Smith filled the gap by re-signing Scott Green, the first midfield
enforcer we'd had at Wrexham for a long time. Before then you have to think back
to Peter Ward, such was Brian Flynn's reluctance to sign midfielders taller than
him.
Now we're at the bottom we need Williams back to provide a base for Darren
Ferguson to get forward.
Last week's loss at Milton Keynes was disappointing, but everyone believes the
side is good enough to recover from the 10-point deduction.
On top of that we've lodged an appeal to get the points back, but I would find
it very surprising if the League relented.
We'll just have to get three of them against the Monkey Hangers tomorrow.
