Racecourse help for Racecourse

The Racecourse GroundFOOTBALL fans will be heading to the races as Wrexham FC is named firm favourite for the day.

Racecourse bosses in Bangor-on-Dee have decided to use tomorrow’s meeting to help raise funds and awareness for another Racecourse and cash-strapped club.

It is hoped supporters will join the crowds at to Bangor-on-Dee to make the event as successful as possible.

The six-race programme will feature the “Wrexham AFC Fight For Survival Novices Hurdle Race”.

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse bosses have expressed their delight at being able to support the club during the current crisis, and hopes to be able to assist in efforts to keep it from going under.

Racecourse manager Jeannie Chantler said: “To show our support for the club, we are offering a £5 reduction to the paddock enclosure to anyone who comes with their Wrexham Football Club season ticket.

“Bangor-on-Dee will also be making a donation to the club.”

Wrexham FC football secretary Geraint Parry is hoping for a good turnout in support of the club tomorrow.

He said: “We are delighted another local sporting organisation – Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse – is prepared to help us.

“The general support in the local area has been overwhelming and decidedly heart-warming.

“We hope our season ticket holders will support the race meeting tomorrow.”

Club captain Brian Carey and some of the players will be on hand during the day to present the prizes.

Tomorrow´s racing starts at 1.10pm, with the last race at 3.40pm. A free bus service is available from Wrexham Station at 11.40am and returns at 4pm.
