RACKING my brains for some fundraising ideas on Monday night, it suddenly hit me squarely between the eyes.

What victory is synonymous with Wrexham? Which scene has been replayed time and time again due to the media coverage of our plight?

It's simple... replay the Arsenal game. Not only is it a great PR stunt, it would also be a great point of interest. How would the same sides get on more than 12 years on? Who's fit? Who's fat?

Before I get too carried away by all this, David Rocastle, who played the full match for the Gunners when we beat them 2-1 all those years ago, recently died of cancer.

But going through the lists, I believe there are people who would help. For the Wrexham lads, well it was the crowning point in the career's of everyone who played in that game.

They'd do it again. To the best of my knowledge: Vince O'Keefe now works for the PFA, Andy Thackeray is still playing with Ashton United, Phil Hardy works for an engineering firm on Ellesmere Port, we all know where big Brian Carey is, while media pundit Mickey Thomas never misses a PR trick.

Mark Setori works for his father's firm in Stockport, Gordon Davies is apparently a teacher down South while Gareth Owen is just up the road at Connah's Quay Nomads. Karl Connolly is also close, at Prescot Cables, with Wayne Phillips (player-boss) and Steve Watkin (striker) both involved at Caernarfon Town.

Manager for the night could be a certain Brian Flynn. Not a lot on his hands at the moment.

On the Arsenal side, David Seaman, Lee Dixon and Nigel Winterburn are involved in punditry - however getting Adams and O'Leary involved may be a problem. To replace Rocastle, there is either his cousin Craig (now at Hibernian) or Perry Groves, who came on as a sub. We'd all better cross our fingers that Jimmy Carter can be persuaded.

See if Sky or BBC Wales are interested in covering the match. It would get the people of Wrexham out and I'm sure the ex-Gunners would love to put the record straight.

And it may just save the club!
