McNeil last night hit back at Wrexham owner Alex Hamilton and accused him of
having a "Lack of respect for the community."
The Racecourse legend had been hoping to help save his old club from
administration by backing a bid to buy up Hamilton's controlling stake.
But any chance of a deal with the consortium headed by former chairman Mark
Guterman disappeared on Friday when the club's former chairman withdrew the
offer.
McNeil said: "We gave a deadline for Alex Hamilton to either accept or reject
the deal.
"We heard nothing whatsoever from him. It is difficult to get any response from
him on anything.
"We are not just talking about a football club, we are talking about a community
and I don't think he has shown much respect for that.
"It seems to me that if the club goes into administration, it will be down to
him. But he just seems to want to blame everyone else for the situation.
"If he wants to sell up he should at least make some sort of effort to rekindle
a deal."
If successful, McNeil says the deal would have prevented the club from going
into administration on Friday and see Hamilton walk away from the club with a
£1m profit on his investment.
McNeil would have been installed as the chief executive and added: "There were
92 clubs in the league last time I looked and once one goes you cant get it
back.
"We are keeping our fingers crossed that Mr Hamilton will show some common
sense.
"It is dreadful what is happening not just for the fans but for everyone
concerned with the club."
