Appeal to Reds' fans to kick off season in style

02 August 2005

WREXHAM Supporters' Trust (WST) wants to make Wrexham FC's first match of the season on Saturday a day to remember.

The Trust is hoping fans will ensure Wrexham's first match of the season catches some of the atmosphere of the LDV Vans Trophy Final.

A WST spokesman said: "Crowds at the Millennium Stadium added to the occasion with flags and banners and we would like to see the same response at the Boston match. "It's a great way to start off Wrexham's season, it's also a great way to show our devotion to the team and The Racecourse.

"We will also be running our annual balloon race, which will add to the sense of occasion, this year's will be twice the size of last years, with 5,000 balloons being released.

"There is a prize of £500 for the balloon which has travelled the furthest distance. The launch will be at 2pm at Llwyn Isaf and Gary Bennett will be saying a few words before we march to the Racecourse."

Anyone interested in taking part in the race can do so by sending a cheque for their balloons - which are £1 each - to PO Box 2200, Wrexham LL12 9WG.

The WST are also looking for volunteers for the day, If you can help please call 07981151958.
