A TRUE legend of Wrexham FC died this morning.

Aly McGowan, of Brymbo, passed away at Nightingale House in the early hours of this morning.

Born in Strathclyde 1930, Aly McGowan made his home in Wrexham after signing as a fullback for the club in 1953.

He was a well-known character at The Racecourse even after he gave up playing in 1965, working on the turnstiles and in other roles at the club.

Members of his family travelled down to see him at the weekend and visited The Racecourse to get a flavour of his glory days.

Wrexham FC football secretary, Geraint Parry said: "He was someone who was known to all ages of supporters at the club and he will be greatly missed."
