Mark JonesMARK JONES and Simon Spender have been rewarded for their good form this season with another call up to the Wales under 21s squad, writes ROB GRIFFITHS.

The pair will join up with former Wrexham boss Brian Flynn, currently in charge of the Welsh youth set up, to fly out to Cyprus for a friendly on Tuesday.

Reds boss Denis Smith said he was hoping the pair came back without any injuries, but admitted his biggest concern was with giant Trinidad and Tobago centre back who was away playing a World Cup play-off with Bahrain.

Lawrence plays two games, first at home in Port of Spain on Saturday and then a return fixture in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday as the Soca Warriors look to make the World Cup for the first time in their history.

Smith said: "Simon and Mark will be training and playing one game on Tuesday so it won't be all that bad, but the major worry for me is Dennis Lawrence.

"Dennis is playing two games and that is a bigger worry, and we have also got Michael Ingham away on international duty, so we have four players missing in total."

Goalkeeper Ingham will join up with Lawrie Sanchez's Northern Ireland squad for a friendly with Portugal in Belfast.

Also away with the Wales is physio Mel Pejic, who joins up with the senior squad for the first time after a number of years serving with the under 21 set up.

Smith added: "We are a Welsh club and we would expect to provide players for the Welsh set up. And Mel has been with the under 21 level for some years and there is no reason why he shouldn't step up the senior side, as long as we still have cover here."
