Lee McEvillyWREXHAM striker Lee McEvilly is facing the possibility of being sidelined for several months with a stress fracture.

McEvilly, who has already had ankle surgery this season, will undergo a CT scan on his right foot on Wednesday.

The Northern Ireland cap has scored six goals in the last seven games and Dragons boss Denis Smith is bullish about keeping his striker on the pitch.

"At the moment I'm expecting him to play Saturday, I don't make decisions before I know the facts," Smith said.

A basic X-ray has already revealed McEvilly has a problem, but the extent of the stress fracture - and whether it requires an operation - will be revealed by the more sophisticated CT scan.

If McEvilly is ruled out for a lengthy period, Smith can pair on-loan Liverpool front man Robbie Foy with Jon Walters, but the cupboard looks bare after that.

Foy is only on loan from Anfield until January and Smith may now seek to extend that deal.
