Reasons to be cheerful - not

Brian MawhinneyREASONS why I hate the Football League numbers 68 and 69.

Sixty eight. Because Lord Haw-Haw (or Brian Mawhinney as he likes to be known) has set up a questionnaire he wants every fan to answer to find out what we think of the Football League.

Brian, have you thought this through? Do you really want to know what Wrexham fans think of the Football League? Are you eager to see how many swear words (both Welsh and English) we can fit on a page?

Sixty nine. Because the Football League have set up a new awards night, designed to honour some of the unsung heroes plying their trade in the lower leagues.

Sounds to me like they want to give Sir Denis of Smith an award. Well you know where you can stick it Mawhinney. The only award we want is the 10 points you stole off us last season.

Ten points that would have ruined this club had it not been for the LDV Vans Trophy. Ten points that meant that our best players left.

Ten points taken away from us, the fans, because you're not able to properly vet people who want to buy football clubs.

More worries this week. It seems Lee McEvilly is struggling with a foot injury. That's a huge blow with the biggest game in the world, ever, on the horizon.

Evil has been in fine form and losing him would be a major dent to our promotion hopes as we don't have many strikers.

With the transfer window closed (another thing the Football League should have fought against) we'd have to play Dean Bennett up front with Jon Walters and I don't see many goals there.

A Merry Christmas to everyone - except Brian Mawhinney. I hope his tree falls down.
