FITC New CarsWREXHAM FC's Football in the Community programme has been donated two new cars from local car dealership, Lindop Brothers.

The two Toyota Yaris cars were given to the programme to help provide transportation for staff to schools in the area after the club's Football in the Community Day when they played Stockport County.

Steve Hopewell, managing director of Lindop Brothers said: "As a local business we were eager to get involved with Wrexham's community coaching, and providing a couple of great cars to take them to sessions made sense for us both."

The Football in the Community programme visit schools throughout the county, promoting the sport and healthy living. They are often accompanied by Wrexham FC players.

They were involved in promoting a strong anti-racism message at The Racecourse at the weekend.

The theme of the day for Saturday's match against Torquay United was 'Kicking Racism out of Football'.

Players wore anti-racism shirts during their warm-up and a huge banner went around the ground to promote the anti-racism message.

Backgrounds

The main event saw children from Wrexham schools Victoria Primary and St Giles' Primary show off their football skills during a half-time match. Both schools have students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, including Poland, Portugal and the Philippines.

The event was a collaborative effort between Football in the Community with Wrexham Council's sports development team and healthy schools coordinator.
