WREXHAM have moved to address their problems with injuries and scoring goals by signing young Liverpool striker Robbie Foy on loan.

The 19-year-old Scot will stay at the Racecourse until the end of January.

Foy spent three months on loan at Chester last season, but failed to score in 13 appearances.

Wrexham have scored just twice in four league games this season, both goals coming from midfield in the opening-day 2-0 win over Boston.

The new-look strike force of Jon Walters and Lee McEvilly have yet to hit the mark, Wrexham having lost Juan Ugarte, Chris Armstrong, Chris Llewellyn and Hector Sam over the summer.

"With Lee McEvilly and Lee Roche getting injured on Saturday I was left with just 14 players and was very short up front," Wrexham manager Denis Smith told BBC Sport Wales.

"Hopefully Robbie can come in and produce. He's busy, he's sharp and he gets his shots away.

"He's also capable of playing all over - up front, in midfield or on the wing. He can give us an extra dimension."

Smith was keen to praise the help given to him by Liverpool, after their pre-season friendly against Wrexham and European game with TNS at the Racecourse put money in the north Wales club's empty coffers.

"It was good of Liverpool to let Robbie come here," said Smith.

"When you've got the European champions on your side it's a major bonus."
