Stephen sorry for the fans

29 December 2005

Stephen VaughanSTEPHEN VAUGHAN today admitted he felt sympathy for both Chester and Wrexham supporters.

The Chester City chairman was reacting to yesterday's scheduled league derby match between Chester and Wrexham being postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Vaughan was angered about the big game being postponed after the fixture had been switched to a 12 noon kick-off on police advice.

Vaughan said: "We've picked up the police bill for the match and we all had our say about what we thought when we first heard the match had been switched to a 12 noon kick-off.

"I'm bitterly disappointed for both Chester and Wrexham fans who have been hit In the pocket after having to take the day off work.

"There was no reason in my opinion why the fixture couldn't have been organised at 3pm or 7.45pm -the Everton v Liverpool match was played at 8pm last night and nobody complained.

"There's no news about when the rearranged match will be played, but we'll all be interested to see what happens next."
