Blair SturrockWREXHAM boss Denis Smith will run the rule over trialist Blair Sturrock in Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Manchester City at the Racecourse.

Former Dundee United and Plymouth striker Sturrock, 25, is the son of Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock.

Scot Sturrock joined Wrexham on Tuesday for training and if international clearance arrives he will be in the squad to face Premiership side City.

"This is a useful opportunity to look at Blair in a match," Smith said.

"We take a look at a number of players during pre-season."

Sturrock played for Rochdale last season, clocking up 15 starts and six goals at Spotland, but is now a free agent.

Smith told the Wrexham website that he would also continue to monitor another trialist, Trinidadian winger Josh Johnson, during their pre-season programme.

"Josh Johnson joined in on Saturday and will also feature again tomorrow (Wednesday) evening," Smith added.
