Carlos EdwardsWATFORD are stepping up their interest in Luton winger Carlos Edwards who has revealed he wants to sign for the Hornets.

Boss Adrian Boothroyd has spoken to the player's agent over a move and if a fee can be agreed with the Hatters then the Trinidad and Tobago ace should complete a switch to Vicarage Road.

Luton are keen to keep hold of the winger, who impressed during his debut season with the club, but a desire to play in the Premiership could signal a move to the Hornets.

The player's agent Mike Berry says he is not sure whether Watford have made an offer but has confirmed Boothroyd has been in touch with him to sound out the player's thoughts over a move to the club.

"As far as Watford is concerned I'm not aware of the bids myself, other than I do know definitely, because I spoke to Adrian Boothroyd a couple of weeks ago, that Adrian wants him," Berry told skysports.com.

"Carlos is very keen [to play in The Premiership]. When he first came to England six years ago his ambition always was, as a kid in Trinidad, to play in The Premiership.

"Carlos has enjoyed his first season at Luton, they had a fantastic year finishing in the top ten and at one point having a chance of getting into the play-offs - a fantastic year.

"But as far as Watford is concerned of course he would like to play for Watford, they are in The Premiership, as simple as that, and he has told Mike Newell his views."
