What now for Reds?

Brian CareyONCE is unlucky. Twice is downright careless.

Wrexham are back where they were when their proud Football League status was so seriously threatened last season.

Saturday's win lifted Wrexham off the bottom and gave their suffering supporters a glimmer of hope.

But last night's chilling 4-0 home hammering by Chesterfield proves that Wrexham haven't heeded the warnings.

The club has put its house in order off the field. It boasts a top class training facility and the famous Racecourse ground, once the plans go through, will soon be souped up.

But, hang on a minute! Shouldn't we be putting things right ON the pitch. Surely that is a priority.

The final day of last season when Wrexham stayed up saw fans dancing on the pitch and players swigging champagne in the director's box.

The bubbly has long gone flat and by the look of last night's 3,000 gate, so has the supporters' appetite for the game.

For once, fans couldn't blame manager Brian Carey's policy to swap and change the side as he still frantically tries to work out what his best team and what his best formation is.

But who can you blame?

Anyone who knows their football will tell you that Lincoln were awful and that Chesterfield played liked a top three team.

Wrexham shouldn't be rolled over 4-0 - it was 3-0 after 15 minutes - at home by the likes of them.

Serious questions need to be asked. Certain individuals need to be looking at themselves and big decisions have to be made.

Some fans called for Carey to be sacked last night. Only Neville Dickens and Geoff Moss can decide what they think is best for Wrexham Football Club.

They had the guts to dispense with fans' favourite Denis Smith in a shock move last January. Only time will tell whether they'll have to make the same soul-searching decision again.
