Wrexham Evening Leader

Little just wants more of the same

Brian LittleGO and finish the job off. That is manager Brian Little's message to his players as Wrexham aim to extend their run of three consecutive away matches unbeaten.

The finale to the triple header is tomorrow's match against Dagenham and Redbridge, and Little wants to see Wrexham avoid defeat.

"We are generally pleased with the way the week has gone so far and it would be a shame if we did not see it through now," said Little today. "We have to finish the job off properly and we will do our best to do that.

"A bit more of the same would be nice. We have defended well and our attacking play was better against Bury.

"If there is some improvement again, great. If there isn't but we get the same result, that's great too.

"This is one of those games where the priority is to get a result. If it is a draw or a win, either would do us.

"If we get something, being the away team it will be a better result for us. A draw would be okay but we will go there and try to win."

Victory against Bury on Tuesday took Wrexham out of the relegation zone, but Little is not getting carried away and said the onus is on Wrexham to keep picking up points to stay ahead of the chasing teams.

"When I look at my work-load, looking at the league table is not one of the priorities," said Little.

"I'm not saying I don't look at it. But it is not really a priority to see what other teams do or where they are.

"I just know that when we pick up a point we are going in the right direction. When we pick up three points, we are definitely going in the right direction.

"If we lose, then you are looking over your shoulder."

Despite losing Eifion Williams to injury – the striker pulled a hamstring scoring the winner at Bury – Little does have options.

Midfielders Sam Aiston and Matty Done, who missed the midweek win because of illness, have returned to training and are available.

Defender Ryan Valentine and midfielder Robbie Garrett made their first starts under Little, who is pleased that players who have come into the side have performed well.

"We have got a few variations and people did not let themselves down," added Little. "The important thing is that when people come into the side they do a job.

"I have never worried about picking a team and I won't start now. I pick whatever I think is the best team on the day to win that match. I don't pick a team to upset people, and I don't have favourites. I pick a team to try and achieve something. We are all in it as a group."

Defender Neil Taylor, rested at Bury, may be included in the squad.
