Sam AistonSAM AISTON is predicting an immediate response from Wrexham against Brentford on Saturday after tasting defeat at the weekend.

Wrexham's unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday when the Reds were beaten 3-0 by fellow strugglers Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Road.

That result meant Wrexham, who also lost for the first time under Brian Little, dropped back into the relegation zone.

But winger Aiston, on-loan from Northampton Town, hopes the defeat was a minor blip and that Wrexham bounce back against Brentford at The Racecourse on Saturday.

"Things have picked up under Brian Little, although it was disappointing against Dagenham," said Aiston today.

"I think that is just a hiccup. We are back in training today, back to hard work, and we will have a really good week.

"We won't play like that on Saturday – I promise that.

"We need a response. It is all about bouncing back. We can't feel sorry for ourselves.

"The gaffer said, 'think about Saturday's game'. We need to think about what we have done wrong and want to improve, but not dwell on it because that is a recipe for disaster."

Brentford are four places and four points above second from bottom Wrexham who have a game in hand.

And Aiston, disappointed the Reds could not build on the midweek victory at Bury which had taken the Reds out of the drop zone, highlighted the importance of the Brentford clash.

"Obviously we are very disappointed," said Aiston. "We have made great strides over the last couple of weeks and that was a big disappointment.

"There is no point being negative. We will not forget about it, but try not to dwell on it too much We have now got a massive game against Brentford.

"After doing so well in midweek we thought we could get a good result at Dagenham and it would have been perfect for Saturday which is a massive game for us now and we will definitely play better than we did at Dagenham.

"If we get a win we are still looking good."

A Steve Evans own goal meant lacklustre Wrexham trailed 1-0 at half-time against Dagenham.

Although the Reds were better after the break, two late goals sealed victory for the home side, and substitute Aiston, who came on for the start of the second half, admitted that Wrexham have to improve.

"The gaffer wasn't very happy at half-time. We were terrible first half," said Aiston.

"We could not play any worse and got better in the second half, but we needed to score when we had a bit of pressure.

"We did not do that and when you are chasing the game, you are always open to a sucker punch.

"We had a couple of chances but never really opened them up like we would have liked to. We improved second half but we need to do a lot, lot better."

Aiston, who missed the midweek win at Bury because of illness, does not believe confidence is low at the club, and added; "I don't think the squad is lacking in confidence. I've been quite surprised," he said.

"I did not play against Bury because I had the flu, but from what I've seen so far, everyone seems in pretty good spirits.

"I am enjoying it at Wrexham, though I did not enjoy Saturday."
