Little ready for Brentford fight
14 December 2007
Wrexham boss Brian Little says his side will have to fight if they are to beat managerless Brentford at the Racecourse on Saturday.
The Dragons will be looking to get back to
winning ways following last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge.
And Little said: "You've got two teams who genuinely need to get something out
of this football match.
"We're going to try and be aggressive and hopefully will get the result."
Wrexham sit next to bottom of the Football League with Brentford - who parted
company with manager Terry Butcher this week, four points and four places above
them.
And Little is aware of the effect teams losing their managers on players.
"The players will be disappointed, they will feel a little bit responsible for
that I'm sure, and there will be a reaction," he said.
"Generally, the response springs determination more than anything else and I
think they will be determined to put things right.
"This weekend there is a game where people will want to fight, not literally.
They will not lie down, not give in."
A win for Wrexham would bring them closer to the teams sitting above them as
they look to drag themselves away from the relegation zone.
But Little warned: "When you are down the bottom of the table, every time you
lose a game, you do take a massive step backwards.
"You're not at the bottom of the table for any other reason than you've got a
lot of work to do.
"We will from time to time lose a game. I don't want to, but it will happen.
"We've got a long, hard trek ahead of ourselves, we are going to have our
disappointments, but what we've to be able to do is pick ourselves up and march
on and stay strong and keep together and we've tried very hard to do that this
week."
