Brian LittleBRIAN LITTLE may be looking forward to the January transfer window, but today he acknowledged the importance of getting the best out of his current crop of struggling stars.

A common concern amongst Reds fans is that Wrexham have a team full of players with the individual talent to succeed, but for one reason or another they are unable to gel together on a Saturday afternoon.

And after watching his side slump to a 3-1 defeat against Brentford, Little admitted that while January will be a busy month, right now he is concentrating on doing the best he can with the squad he has inherited.

"If I bring new faces into the club it will be to help the players we already have on board because I still think we have a crop of reasonably good players here already," said Little.

"There is no reason why we can't get ourselves together and do better.

"The current group of players are players who I believe have more in them than is coming out at the moment, and it is up to me to try and get that out of them.

"But there are lots of thing we need to do.

"We need the players to see where they went wrong. As staff we need to point out to players where they went wrong and then we need to be brave enough to try and put it right on a football field.

"We have got to dig in, be brave, be strong and we need our more senior players to help the younger ones through the situation."

Despite conceding three goals to a side who hadn't previously found the net in 520 minutes of trying, Little insists that there are positives to take away from the game.

The Wrexham boss was not for one minute trying to pretend it was by any means a good performance, but apart from what he describes as "10-minutes of crazy football", he feels there were moments to build on ahead of the match against Rotherham.

"We had a ten 10 minute spell where it knocked everybody backwards and when you analyse the game properly it was during that period where we lost the game completely," added Little.

"We conceded three awful goals and simply fell to pieces.

"It was a major disappointment and it was sad really because we have defended really well in the previous three games. People may ask questions about the goals against Dagenham, but we conceded goals when we were chasing the game and were desperate to get back into it.

"But there are positives to take out of the match.

"I thought the partnership up front between Neil Roberts and Chris Llewellyn did well before we had to change it.

"Mark Jones came into the side again and got 50 minutes under his belt, which was pleasing.

"And Sam Aiston looked a player who could, and will, create chances for us.

"The important thing now after a couple of bad results is we dig deep and don't just go hiding in the corner – I won't let them do that and I'm sure they won't do it themselves.

"There is no reason why we can't get ourselves together and do better, but at the moment every game we have is a tough game."
