BOLLAND has admitted he would jump at the chance of signing for Wrexham.
Centre-half Bolland has been training with Wrexham since the start of the month
after being told he has no future at Chester City.
Bolland is out of contract at The Deva Stadium next summer and the 31-year-old
has been told he is free to find another club.
Wrexham manager Brian Little has been running his eye over the experienced
Bolland who said he would willingly join the Reds when the transfer window
reopens next month.
"Between the two of us we thought it best if I found another club," said Bolland
today.
"Fortunately this opportunity came up.
"I have come here to train and it gives the gaffer a chance to look at me. I am
just happy to have the opportunity to try and impress the gaffer, and see how it
goes from there.
"I have found it great here. The facilities are like a step up.
"I have had chats here and there with the gaffer but nothing concrete.
"It is entirely his decision and I would love to join Wrexham but it is not up
to me. We will see what happens but I am old enough to know what happens in
football.
"But I would be delighted to sign for Wrexham."
Bolland, whose two spells at Chester were separated by a stint at Peterborough
United, has found chances under manager Bobby Williamson limited at The Deva
this season.
The former City captain has only made a handful appearances since Williamson
took charge and he is happy to move on in search of regular first team football.
Bolland has made a total of 153league starts for Chester after starting his
career in 1995 at Altrincham, before having spells at Southport and Oxford
United.
"I am looking to find another club. Things have just not worked out this year,"
said Bolland. "A new manager brought in a new captain, and he wants his own men
in the team. He never had senior lads on the bench and has looked to try out
youngsters.
"It is frustrating but that is the way it goes in football.
"I had some good times at Chester but I want to be playing football. I want to
be pro-active and don't want to be sitting around."
Bolland believes that Wrexham, bottom of the League Two table, are more than
capable of pulling away to safety: "We are coming up to the New Year and there
are a lot of games to go," he added.
"I know what this league is like and when you look at the squad and the
facilities here, Wrexham are in a false position."
