I believe they do a summer school, well they used to a while back.

They'll be expecting to return to them in September or move in then if they're new students. If that accomodation will no longer be available, it's only fair that the students are given notice so they can make alternative arrangements.

Not all students go home, many actually come from abroad so are unlikely to go home.
