We did up the loyalty points for attending the home Wrexham cup games. Loyalty system is far from perfect though and not immune from abuse. Plenty of evidence that our more well off fans buy tickets to get loyalty points and then sell them on forum's/facebook/X etc. For our recent Carabao Cup match away to Bristol City, tickets were £15 and you got a lot of loyalty points for purchasing but quite a few people didn't actually intend to go to the game. Loyalty points system since our return home, climb up leagues and 2 recent Wembley visits resulting in clamour for tickets, have made our fanbase very competitive for tickets which means loyalty scheme is undoubtedly the fairest way for the loyal of fans who travel everywhere all year round. Like all clubs we have huge number of people moaning about LP system coz the likes of Leeds and WBA away sell out so quick. Clubs do need to sort out the loyalty system to prevent reallocation somehow.Yes I think you make a fair point here in that those lucky enough to get the big game tickets could then be rewarded with points for being lucky, with those who missed out punished for being unlucky.
Here they would need to implement dynamic awarding of points based on the importance of the fixture and this is often done. So Shrewsbury away = 0 points but Crawley away = 5 points.
That way you can implement a fairer scheme that does reward loyalty.
It starts with a base number for ST holders but members can get tickets for these such games and so can get on the ladder too, so it also prevents it being a closed shop to ST holders.
In addition to that it adds incentive for people and thus increased revenue for the club, Coventry did it when we played them and increased the points allotted if fans attended our game vs them.
