I am hoping to find historical images or clippings related to Jesse Thomas Williams, born in Cefn-y-Bedd in 1903.
Signed by Wrexham at 18 years old and made his first senior match appearance September 22, 1923. His last match for Wrexham was when winning the Welsh Cup on May 1, 1924 at the Racecourse Grounds.
I am returning to Wales for the first time since emigrating to Canada in 1959 and my visit this September will coincide with the 100th anniversary of his first senior match.
He also was capped for Wales v Ireland on April 18, 1925 at the Wrexham Racecourse Grounds.

Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated

Martin Williams

You want to search the British Newspaper Archives.

You can filter by date range and the region of the newspaper.

For example, The Western Mail had an article about him on page 4 of their 20/1/1928 edition.

WELSH INTERNATIONAL FOR CLAPTON ORIENT

... The Middlesbrough Club have transferred Jesse T. Williams, their Welsh international outside-left, to Clapton Orient. Jesse Williams, who gained a cap against Ireland in 1925, must not he confused with Owen Williams, the English International winger ...

Do you know what league Caergwrle played in back then in 1921?

Someone else on here will hopefully be able to provide much better details. Below is all I could find, which you may have already seen. If you click into the 'North Wales Alliance League' and then 1919-1920 you will find them in Division 1 but then they do not appear for 1920-1921.

I did however find the below which I also expect you are aware of (search the page for 'Jesse Thomas' on the Silkmen site).

I too saw the macclesfield reference which surprised me because I understood that he finished playing football at Colwyn Bay. The reference is very vague and I have written to Macclesfield FC with no response as of yet.
Thank you for your response to my query.

Is he not mentioned in the club history book 'A-Z OF WXM PLAYERS' also a similar book on Welsh INTERNATIONAS'

He is mentioned in both as well as in Middlesbrough and Clapton Orient publications. I have had tremendous help in researching his career from Wrexham onwards but keep having some difficulty regarding Oak Alyn and Caergwyrle.
I will keep trying and welcome any and all suggestions

As he played for Wales isn't he in the 'Sons of Cambria' by Gareth Davies and published by St Davids Press?
