No reason to think we can't replicate what Bournemouth and Brentford have done.
Technically no there isn't. Problem is there are 20+ other highly ambitious teams, many with massive resources, desperately trying to get into PL.
Need endless £ millions and/or a uniquely amazing manager. Believe me as a Championship STH, the league is brutal and gets inceasingly harder each year.

Exactly.

Our owners are an interesting conundrum, far more famous than many other Championship club owners, but not actually as cash rich in many cases. I know we have the new investors, but the 'sustainable' word had been mentioned many times by R&R. I don't ever see us spending like a Birmingham for example, we seem more like a Luton in that regard. We may eventually get there, but it won't be via outspending everyone.

True! Yet others seem to think we're going to be spending £20-£30m if we go up because we won't settle for consolidation!

Spending 20-30mill is a bit of an anomaly in FL1. Birmingham seem to want to make a statement of their wealth from what I can see.

Is the likes of Stansfield really a 15million pound player?

I'm talking about when we're in the Championship. I still don't see us spending anywhere near that amount next summer if we go up.

In answer to Stansfield. No, he isn't.

Ok. I think if we’re in the championship, it’s a different level entirely to what we’re at now in terms of player fees and wages. We will of course have greatly increased income for just being in the championship but it will be very interesting to see exactly what the owners are prepared to spend and what they anticipate needing to spend to be competitive or even just survive.

We also have to factor in different profit and sustainability rules.

No way is he. I wouldn't have paid a penny over £5m for Stansfield. He's decent, but £15m ? Really ?

Its a FFP cheat, L1 & L2 financial rules apply over two seasons, so if they're here for one season they can sign whoever they want and aren't subject to rules over it, then if/when they sell him, the entire transfer fee counts as profit towards FFP

By logic on here yes he absolutely is worth that. Was easily best player last season in Birmingham side who were crap, scoring goals in Championship.

Fulham didn’t want him to leave so Brum twisted their arms with a £15M now guaranteed as trade off for Fulham not having potential £50M player on hands in couple of years.

The add fact that they relegated so fans could have had a wobble about ownership but Stansfield sells tickets and merchandise and just gave their fanbase a real boost and well worth it

And that is before the assumption that they are going straight back up when money is much bigger in Championship
