Delighted we won but can’t overlook some stinking performances:

Okonkwo 5
James 4
O’Connell 6
Hayden 4
O’Connor 6
McClean 6
Evans 5
Jones 6
Lee 6
Palmer 7
Mullin 6

Subs
Davies 8
Fletcher 8
Dalby 6

Evan’s gave the ball away every time he passed the ball. At most a 2 maybe even a 1.

Palmer not sure he added much today 5? Would like to see fletcher get a start as think we played better football by not just lumping forward.

Lee MOM for me at maybe a 7, good on ball and everything was through him.

Rest would have given maybe 6’s not great but seen worse.

Tough one to rate but:

Okonkwo - 7: He made a cracking save at the end and I don't think he was at fault for either goal. Only fault was that weird throw in the 2nd half but he recovered well. Probably MOTM for me but I probably wouldn't die on that hill.
Hayden - 4: Did not think he had a good game, was uncharacteristically overpowered for the 1st Salford goal and went walkabouts for the 2nd. Did James no favours.
O'Connell - 6: Our best defender today. Solid performance.
O'Connor - 4: Gave the ball away a lot, not one of his better days.
James - 4: As said in the match reaction thread, he was thrown in at the deep end against a very capable Declan John. Unfortunately, just not ready yet for this level of football and needs to be eased in with Trophy games and the like. Has potential though.
McClean - 6: Got involved a lot. Got an assist and his tackle was what started the move off for the winner - it goes to show what can happen when you're much fitter than your opponents.
Jones - 6: A lot of closing down, played in two different positions and generally was good. It's bad, scrappy games like this where you need a Jones or a Young in the side.
Evans - 5: Didn't think he had a bad game, just average.
Lee - 6: Got a well taken goal but beyond that wasn't the best I've seen him.
Mullin - 6: Should have scored in the first half and still made a nuisance of himself. Got an assist for Fletcher.
Palmer - 5: Not through lack of effort, just nothing seemed to come off for him today.

SUBS
Davies - 7: Got the winner and is staking his claim recently to be put back in the team. Would have had a hat trick on another day with more luck.
Fletcher - 7: Oozes class and scrambled the ball over the line for the equalizer.
Dalby - 7: He blows hot and cold sometimes but he blew hot today. Some great play from him for both 2nd half goals.
Young - N/A: Not on long enough to rate
Tunnicliffe - N/A: Same as above

Just a tough game against a Salford team set up to frustrate from minute one. Thought we looked unambitious until the subs but I'm not sure how much of that was due to Parkyball and how much was that Salford's game plan worked for 60 minutes. Goes to show how much fitness plays a part in this game, Salford were huffing and puffing after the hour mark.

Okonkwo - 6 - Very poor kicking, little to do in goal. I'd have to see the 1st again, was from close range but he looked slow to it. Won't dock him for it for now. Good save at the end

James - 3 - Out of his depth, out of position
Hayden - 3 - Not his day at all
O'Connell - 7 - Poor distribution but a rock aside from that
O'Connor - 6 - Shaky at times but mostly solid
McClean - 7 - Excellent deliveries

Evans - 5 - Poor today
Jones - 7 - Amazing 2nd half, lots of energy in the 1st
Lee - 7 - Mainly for his defensive ability, which most don't credit. Well taken goal

Mullin - 6 - Needs to be more clinical and tired, but showed glimpses of the old Mullin, dropping the shoulder
Palmer - 6 - Thought he was below par first half but started the 2nd well

Davies - 8 - Great player, a joy to watch
Fletcher - 8 - Great player, a joy to watch MOTM
Dalby - 8 - Much better today. Pivotal in 2 goals

I don’t usually grade subs but Fletcher and Davies changed the game; both 9s.

Okowonko -5- keeps pushing the ball back into danger, strange kicking today.

James -5- a player there, was getting in the positions but panicked a bit when he was there.
Hayden -4- both goals on him, let Smith stoop and beat him, then gambled for the ball and missed on the second.
O’Connell -6- solid enough.
TOC -6- same
McLean -6- better then lately.

Lee -5- great header, but not getting involved as much.
Evans -5- too slow and some poor passing.
Jones -7- didn’t stop, played 3 positions.

Mullin -7- getting there, shocking miss in the first half though.
Palmer -7- thought he did a lot of good stuff but the link ups didn’t come off.

Fletcher - magic, everything he did was good
JD - game changer, midfield far more positive with him in it
Dalby - two assists?!
Young + Tunni - what a pair to be able to bring on for 90 seconds!!

Okonkwo 6 just not as comfortable today, poor kicking but good save at the end

Hayden 4 strangely out of sorts and at fault for the goals
O’Connell 7 best defender today
TOC 6 good enough defensively but gave ball away easily

James 5 found good space but did little with it. Thrown in when not ready
McClean 7.5 great crossing and good energy

Evans 4 sloppy today
JJ 6.5 high energy in multiple positions
Lee 7 better than of late, scored and defended well

Mullin 6 made a nuisance of himself but should have scored
Palmer 6 not as effective today, made poor choices when shooting instead of passing

Fletcher 8 great impact and goal
Davies 8 as above- pushing to start
Dalby 7 made impact , felt more like he was last season

Parky 7 a balance between over exposing James and making the changes he did

Fans 7 sounded as lacklustre as the team were first half

This correct apart from fans who I thought were very quiet. Need to not let **** refs get to us. A lot of moaning around me.
