Discussion thread for Episode 9

Caution this thread will contain spoilers for those who have not watched it

“Welcome Home” After a year of cheering from afar due to Covid, Co-Chairmen Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney finally get to visit Wrexham and spend time with their team and the town.

The sheer helmetry on show in the Turf with that lot. This is what I feared.

Just the one this week and extra long. Also on the episode guides it seems a couple more episodes have been added to the series.

didnt no what to make of all that, some people deserve oscars, all i can say is R&R are great lads

A good one which mixes a whole bunch of stuff in a busy few days culminating in the Torquay home home which all works well in the longer format.

Of course it focuses mainly on R&R but Kerry is the star of the show here.

Ditto club volunteer Annette Gardner who properly sticks the boot in on Fleur (and Shaun Harvey) over a cosy pint with R & R in the Turf saying how badly staff have been treated. Amazed that made it into the final cut and either Annette or Fleur will be leaving the club pretty soon I'd imagine now its aired. My money is on Fleur for what its worth.

The ****-up in the Turf is a bit of a let-down with a selected audience that has Shaun Winter front and centre yet again. As FOG says I'm sure they could have hand picked a better bunch to down shots with. Silly comment from Shaun on Spencer Harris being a weasel that shouldn't have made the cut but Ryan puts him in his place.

Spencer comes across well yet again. He hasn't repaired all the damage to his personal brand but this series goes some way towards that.

Enjoyed that, but some moments where I cringed, wow…

Re. The Turf scene it does reflect a lot of discussions that have been had on here and generally between a lot of Wrexham fans. Some people do see SH as a weasel, and do not give them. WST any credit.

There was an interesting bit during the transfer discussion where they shower a graphic but it was from May 2021 not the period when they were having the discussion - so it was the decisions about Keates team, but the interesting bits are the boxes that list what sort of players they were looking at for the squad. Worth a pause!

24:14 in. May 2021 and the squad is color coded into keep/sign / release / squad? / recruit

In the recruit section we have:
RWB - speed crosses, defensive 1v1
LWB - left foot/speed
CDM - strength, height, tight tackle, interceptor
right side - off the line wide player/dribble's combo's
Left side - flyer, crosses & goals left foot
Subs - on the shoulder fox in the box
10 - create and score '10'

Definitely worth a longer episode for the visit. Some slightly awkward moments as others have mentioned, but very enjoyable overall. Quite nice to see Ryan's concern for Wayne at The Turf when Shaun Harvey mentioned creating a pub in the stand.
