Welcome to Wrexham S2 E9: "Glove Triangle"

Really enjoyed that episode too, so hard to see Lainton. Football is a ruthless game, so it’s hard to see such a decent keeper be spoilt by unlucky injuries!

Agree that Foster fully deserves a proper send off before a game, just for that penalty save alone.

Really hope Foster comes back to the club and is introduced to the crowd before the game. There's a good post on twitter about him not quite getting the send off he deserved.

Would it have been any different if he’d retired over the summer? It’s not like he was going to do it on the pitch after the Boreham Wood game. I’m sure they’ll have a day for him, a testimonial game, whatever soccer teams do for their icons (I assume retiring jersey numbers isn’t a thing there since the number is tied to the position they play somewhat) once there’s some distance between the retirement and the ceremony.

Laintons MCL injury highlights that it was caused by the plastic pitch at Bromley. Thank god we don’t have these pitches in L2 now. Given the obvious evidence that 3G pitches cause serious injury I wonder why the National League hasn’t banned them, but then we know the NL is tinpot. They should get that Marc White onto it, he’s got a plastic pitch and he hates it.

Home vs. Notts County please and thank you.

The simple answer is revenue .... if you have a 3G pitch you can hire it out through out the week.

Teams can use the same pitch to support their first team training , youth teams , community programs , lady's football etc ... all revenue earners

You're also less likely to suffer postponements, ( which would lead to a loss of revenue also ) for your first team and your various other revenue earning programs

Maintenance cost is also lower

...but they are an injury nightmare , particularly when you see a huge number of players, including the Pros wearing the wrong kind of boots on there - I often see kids and pros in blades on 3Gs and I've seen far to many horrendous ( career ending ) injuries as a result - right now. I'd almost go as far as advising a player if they were looking at signing for club if they want to consider a long term career , don't sign for club that has a 3G as their main first team pitch

I play on a 3G every week. Over the last 2 years we've lost three players to career ending injuries. In every case their blades caught in the ground and as there is no 'give' in the pitch the result was a broken something. One guy broke his ankle doing a rabona which served him right.

It absolutely amazes me how people aren't aware how dangerous blades are on 3g pitches .... it also amazes me how people are sucked in by marketing , blades offer very little in the way of improving. your speed or movement , but the big boot makers promote them so people just lap up what they're told and buy them .

If you want to improve pace / movement , train to do it , stud shape makes minimal difference

Howard is a credit to have at the club. Loyal and supportive to other keepers and decent when playing. Himself.

Along with Davidson, Howard's experience will be invaluable in training with the young keepers at the club.
