The sensible compromise, at least as an experiment, would have been to try to get Vose in the middle and protect him (similar to what happened with Ferguson, who had to have his hand held in every game of his career). Picking him on the left of the three was occasionally electric but when every team knows they can march up their right hand side totally unopposed then they do it. It's worth remembering that we only beat top ten teams after Vose was sold (even then only twice).
