At the start of the article, it say's that compensation was agreed on Monday. Not sure I'm following the timeline here.
Apparently he hadn't applied for the job yet his sister knew ages ago.
It was a difficult decision to leave, yet the approach was made Friday and by Saturday he'd said he couldn't definitely say he was staying.
Compo was agreed on Monday which implies he'd already had an interview beforehand.
