For Them: secure for a few years a player with potential for what is probably a nominal fee and no massive wage increase
For Crewe: some cash
For him: opportunity to prove himself even more, and if he does end up surplus to requirements at Shrewsbury, built himself a bit of a rep in the lower leagues.
