Should Pearson be made Player Coach ?

With there being one or more back room vacancies should Shaun Pearson be offered a Player Coach or Assistant Manager position ?
He obviously has strong views and it may be better having him 'Inside the tent p*ssing out than outside p*ssing in '

No 100%.

He was our player of the year last season, let him focus on playing and being our captain and not burden him any further.

No absolutely not, just turned 29 let him concentrate on playing.....extend his contract ideally before Christmas. Could be our captain for next 3-4 seasons then look at perhaps player coach role

What if he is being tapped by another club?
Added security may cement his future with us.

The added security, should be in the form of his contract being extended.

Heard rumours this is being considered. Whether another club's tapping him up or not, it's a big no from me.

Only if he demands it as part of a contract extension.

Can we just let him get on with his own game rather than try to force extra responsibilities that would probably take away from his own personal development?

No, and if it's being considered, why. He is an ok conference centre back, that's all.

Extend his contract asap and sign some decent attacking players.

An ‘ok’ CB who was just named in the team of the season and a key part of the team who kept a record mumber of clean sheets? If that qualifies as ‘ok’ then god knows what you think of other teams CBs.

He's one of, if not the best centre back in the league, have you actually seen him play?

If its part of a new contract that he wants to stay at The Racecourse get him signed up.

Re: Should Pearson be made Player Coach ?

If players want to get into or are interested in coaching then normally they do help out with the kids youth etc on a voluntary/extended role, not contracted. So if he wants to coach he can do this. He's 29 and primarily here for one thing and that's to play and win games.

No.

I like Pearson, he's a good player at this level. However if the idea of 'tapping-up' is thinking that Keates wants him at Walsall then the little git is a bigger idiot than I thought. Pearson would not be able to cut the mustard in League 1.

Even so I expect Pearson is already on a good contract.

Ah extension? Yes.

Coach? No. We need Pearson to concentrate on playing.

Pay rise? No. We need decent attacking players and they cost.

Parachute payments.
They will gamble just like Hartlepool and Orient , but if they fail to make an immediate impact then financial disaster awaits.

I’d read recently that Chesterfield are about £9m in debt and in chaos behind the scenes. I can’t see them been a threat next season

Supposed to be appointing Martin Allen as manager.

I think Pearson should be offered a 1 year extension - that's all for the moment.

I Personaly think Pearson would be a great manager... wether it is a bit to early for him to take on coaching roles etc etc .. im not sure. as it may distract him from his man playing role

but one day i think he would be fantastic in charge

NottsRed 14th May 2018 09.15:05

Re: Should Pearson be made Player Coach ?

I'd give him a contact extension but id say no to any coaching role.

I do worry thought hat we will get an offer for him in the close season. That will say plenty about the clubs attitude for next season if they decide to keep or sell.

Not quite sure why everyones dead against him being made player coach?
Surely it would make him feel more valued as a person and club member !!
Not sure it would affect his game

Is there another 28 year old captain of a professional football club doing the same ? I doubt it, its madness imo. Just let the lad play.
