Yesterday wasnt the day
Today will probably be the busiest day on RP for a hell of a long time.
First day back for the players and a lot of questions will hopefully be answered. Will the new assistant manager finally be back from his holidays? Will a keeper coach be appointed? We’ve been told that 3 trialists are coming. Will they be there? Will Quigley, Oswell or Cheek be there? I don’t expect all of the above to be resolved today but would expect at least some movement on the assistant and player situation. After all there’s a match on Friday isn’t there? I’m not that frequent a visitor to RP these days but even I will be logging in every half hour or so to check up. |
Re: Today’s the day.
With the news regarding Pearson and Manny set to stay at the club, a decent assistant and any of the 3 strikers mentioned by the OP; I feel that sentiment could turn completely on its head! Really hope some of the rumours do come together and that Ricketts, really is the name!

Re: Today’s the day.
We'll probably know more about the backroom staff at the end of the day.
As far as players go, there'll probably be new faces but they'll only be known under the Trialist A/B/C etc. codenames unless someone recognizes them. |
Re: Today’s the day.
I'm not convinced much will happen today. Fed up of the false dawns. We will probably just get scraps - some photos of training and people resorting to trying to spot and name the triallists. Hope Ricketts has a Plan b , c and d if players approached don't sign.

There was a time when the close season was just that. A few months to forget about football and get on with the rest of your life. The season is stressful enough. I am not going to get stressed when we are not actually on the bloody pitch. Enjoy the sunshine and don't sit around waiting for "scraps". Chill :cool3: |

Well said I've been saying this for weeks, but stress heads have to stress, before the Internet the season ended and you enjoyed the break and never even cared about signings. Posted via mobile theme |

We clearly aren’t on the same wave length. If I have to explain it I won’t bother. It’s a bloody joke. It may not be a very funny one but it’s a joke. |

Re: Today’s the day.
Akil Wright was a trialist last season. He was pretty good !

I think he was A or B - remember him having a great game at Druids in preseason, under the name A or B (correct me if I’m wrong!) |

Jack Mackreth is back training with us, along with 2 trialists. That makes 16 and was too was easy! |
Re: Today’s the day.
I wonder who Trialsit A and Trialist B are?
Two trialists are set to link-up with Wrexham for the start of pre-season while winger Jack Mackreth, one of seven players released by Ricketts last month, could also be involved to let him work on his fitness. "There will be a couple of trialists at the minute. Two, just to see where we are up to," said Ricketts. "There is also the possibility of Jack coming in. "If he wasn't fixed up, I offered him to come and do pre-season with us, get fit and look after himself. "He is a good lad, a good character. I have been at many clubs where you try and help players. "I am not sure how long Jack will train with us but it will help him with his fitness going into next season." It remains to be see how many senior players Ricketts will have to face Lex. Pre-season training set to start for Wrexham AFC | The Leader |

Yes, I think he will. We are pretty short of attacking options at the moment. |
Re: Today’s the day.
I wouldn't be too upset if mackreth signs a reduced contract there is a good player in there just didn't see it last season

Mackreth showed glimpses of what he is capable of towards the end of last season, and off the bench against Eastleigh. A good footballer, and maybe given a fresh chance with Sam, could be an option. |

Re: Today’s the day.
Mackreth was rotten last season and in no way, shape or form should he play for us again.
My main concern, though, is that if he does sign for us, then that would say a lot about our ability to sign good players. However I am sure that is not the case. |
Re: Today’s the day.
Ricketts probably liked what he saw in the Dagenham game from Mackreth, he caused them no end of problems that day, so probably feels it's worth seeing him in pre season. Of course we know he was garbage most of the season!
